About Me: I am a lifelong Scranton resident. I live with my husband David, our teenage daughter Melissa, and our black lab/shepard mix Herbie. Marywood has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I earned my bachelor of arts degree in Communication Arts in 1984 and completed my masters degree in Media Management in 2007. I have worked at Marywood for eight years, starting my career in the Marketing and Communications department before accepting a position in graduate admissions. I am also proud to be the faculty advisor for the Wood Word, Marywood's student newspaper. My "spare time" is taken up with work for the Marywood Alumni Chapter, Meals on Wheels, and the Parish Council at my church. Last but not least, I work part time in broadcast radio. July 2008 marked my 25th anniversary in the business.
My Hobbies: My hobbies include reading, listening to music (especially 70's music and all things Elton John), radio broadcasting, traveling to New York City and Walt Disney World, and photography. Would sleep be considered a hobby? I love to sleep.
My Favorite Thing About Marywood: My favorite thing about Marywood is the community spirit. There is a "special feel" about this campus that makes it a warm and welcoming place to learn, work, and relax.
My Favorite Place on Campus: My favorite place at Marywood is the Memorial Arch. To me, that is our welcome mat. It is especially beautiful at night and in the snow.
You'd Never Guess:In August 1987 when I was working full-time in radio, I had the privilege to meet Mother Theresa of Calcutta at the Chancery Building in downtown Scranton. I distinctly remember shaking her hand and wondering how such a small and seemingly frail hand could be so powerful.
My Best Advice: Find out about the Student Services offered and utilize them. Marywood provides tremendous services for all our students, including graduate students. These services are there to help you accomplish your goals and to succeed. Also, get involved. It may be difficult to do because of other commitments...family, work, travel time. Find a way to become active on campus. Enjoy your time at Marywood. You will not find another place like this anywhere in the world.
